MULCH – ITS GO TIME!

Hello scouters!

The day of mulch has arrived!  As a reminder our staging area is the Peterson Road entrance to Strong Farm’s field, which is where the 200 + bags of mulch are being delivered to us.  Everyone is looking for the 9 to 11 shift so there are enough cars/trucks we should wrap up by 11:00 or so.  Any questions please call me in the morning on my cell at 860-872-2813.  Thank you very mulch!

HELP NEEDED – Rhode Island Bike Trip Permission Slip (5/20-5/21)

The permission slip is available for the Rhode Island bike trip (Saturday 5/20 – Sunday 5/21). Permission slips and payments are due at the troop meeting on Thursday 5/18. Parent/guardian participation (attend, transport bikes, and transport scouts) will be needed for this trip or the number of scouts that can attend will be limited. Please contact Bill Magnotta: 860-748-2193 if you can attend the campout and transport bikes and scouts with your vehicle.

Date: Saturday 05/20/2023 – Sunday 05/21/2023

Departure: Saturday 8:00 AM from the Elks

Return: Sunday afternoon

Location: Fort Getty Campground 1050 Fort Getty Road Jamestown, RI 02835

Troop/Patrol Cooking: Troop Cooking (Going out for pizza for dinner Saturday, cold breakfast Sunday morning)

Tent/Cabin/Lean-to: Tent

Duffel Bag/Backpack: Duffel Bag AND Daypack (Bring a bagged lunch for Saturday)

Cost: $25 (CASH ONLY) – Plus money for lunch on the way home and spending money for shops

Permission Slips & Money Due: Thursday 05/18/2023 Troop Meeting

Bikes need to be brought to the Troop meeting on Thursday 5/18 for inspection.

Don’t forget a helmet! No helmet = no bike ride!

Rita’s Fundraiser – Wednesday 5/31 @ 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Please see the flyer for the Rita’s fundraiser on Wednesday, May 31st @ 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM to raise funds for the Troop. It is not necessary to bring the flyer to the event, we get a portion of all sales during that timeframe.

THANK YOU, to our very supportive community! We have settled into a regular schedule now, and have many Regular Customers!

There are currently 3 Options to deposit your collection of Returnables:

• Option 1 (Preferred) – Drop-off; your returnables at the Rockville Elks Lodge 1359, Carriage House Basement Garage (all the way down around the back) Collection & Sorting Operations on Saturday between 9:00 AM and noon.
• Option 2 (by request) – Pick-up; Send an email to t2020ct@gmail.com with your local residential address; put your collection of returnables outside by 9:00 AM, and they will be picked up Saturday before Noon.
• Option 3 (scheduled) – Bulk, Towns other than Vernon / Ellington, other special circumstances; Send an email to t2020ct@gmail.com with your address & any other contact information in order to have a pick-up scheduled outside of our set day.

ETA at Elks is 11:00 AM. Also parents should do a thorough tick check.

Campout departure clarification – meet at Elks 5:00, leave at 5:30

It was mentioned at the meeting last night to meet at the Elks at 4:45 to leave at 5:00. This should have been meet at 5:00 to depart by 5:30, as indicated on the permission slip and flyer. See everyone there tonight at 5:00 PM.

Elks Spring Clean Up – Saturday 5/6 @ 9:00 AM

The spring clean up at the Elks will be from 9:00 AM to noon on Saturday 5/6. Please bring yard clean up equipment (rakes, gloves, tarps and blowers).

April Campout Location Update – Mohawk Mt. State Forest

Due to the inclement weather forecast we are changing the campout this weekend to Mohawk Mt. State Forest (20 Mohawk Mountain Road Goshen, CT 06756). All other information for the campout remains the same. Please plan to be at the Elks tomorrow evening, 4/28/23 at 4:45 PM to pack and leave by 5:00 PM. Thank you Steve Westerberg for being prepared with the alternate camping location.

Troop 20/20 Class B Shirt Orders

The order form is available for Troop 20/20 Class B shirts. Orders are due by Thursday 6/8. Note: Those attending summer camp will get one shirt (collared for adults and older scouts, tee for younger scouts). Anyone else who wants one or if campers want an additional tee then they should order that here and bring payment to Mr. or Mrs. Westerberg at an upcoming meeting/event.
