Summer Camp 2020 For Troop 20/20
There is a glimmer in these uncertain times; Council is still planning to hold Summer Camp 2020 and as such have provided a bit of leeway (yay) of the application & payment dates!
Remember that our Troop’s Goal of near 100% Scout Participation, includes our newly joining Scouts! The new scouts are always afforded the lowest possible camp cost at all times, that is how important their first year of Boy Scout Summer Camp is, and everyone knows that…
Now given these uncertain times, Council has extended their Campership (Council’s Financial Aid for attending Summer Camp) to May 15, so it is extremely important that everyone impacted by the current events file an application with them before their new deadline but the sooner the better!!! See our Troop’s Website for related information that you will need for the Council Campership Application:
Our Troop 20/20 has ALWAYS fully supported our 100% Goal with our very own Scholarship Fund awards, leaving “no scout behind”, so be sure to see Mike or Bill if there are any further financial concerns!
Summer Camp Balance due by May 7th, Payments welcome (and encouraged)!
Summer Camp Troop Fees will be; $470, $445 Siblings, $370 Encore Week (2nd Week or more) this year. This year’s fees are a minimal increase due to; Council Fees Increase & Lack of Troop Fundraising Income.
Troop 20/20’s Summer Camp Fee basis is Council’s Early Bird Fee Structure of; $435, $410 Siblings, and $335 Encore Week.
Additional Cost this year (used to be subsidized by the Troop Fundraising) are based on the Troop elements for the week; New Class B Shirt, Camp Photo, Special Treats & Activities during the week and the last night of Camp on Friday.
You can always attend Summer Camp; the cost however, increases by $25 for each Payment Deadline missed; May 7, & Late Registration payments after June 4.
Looking forward to seeing all of our Scouts at Summer Camp, stay safe and be healthy
Sincerely
Troop 20/20’s Leaders & Committee Members
Merit Badge Message From Mrs. Bradshaw
Hello scouts!!
Hope you and your families are well!
For any scout that would like to finish up Music merit badge, I am happy to meet with you virtually, or if you want to send me a video or picture of your creation, etc. I am happy to accept those.
For any scout that is interested in music, art, theater or Communications Merit Badge, I am happy to set up a zoom meeting to go over requirements. For anyone interested in Communications, (which is Eagle Required), the requirement to attend a town meeting may be easier since they are doing them virtually. Check it out!
With all this down time, now is a great time to get some merit badge work done. I’m happy to help in any way I can!
Feel free to contact me via phone or email or leave a comment below. Please remember to copy in your parents on any email communication.

We strongly recommend canceling or postponing in-person unit activities in May. When possible, please move committee meetings and unit program to web or phone platforms.
We would like to encourage scouts to work on rank advancement and merit badges at home with a parent/guardian’s sign-off.
Connecticut Rivers Council has created a page on their site for At Home Scouting.
Cooking Merit Badge: Mr. Nevelos will be setting up virtual meetings for the scouts working on the cooking merit badge. Please scan or take pictures of what your scout has completed so far in his workbook and email those to him, dnevelos@hotmail.com, so Scoutbook can be updated.

Update: We are confirmed, we’ll be using the kitchen at the Elks, the one up in the lodge (aka the mansion), not the carriage house.
We sold almost 70 grinders! Not a bad start. I will be going to get the materials on Wednesday. If anyone in the Troop wants to order grinders, let me know by tonight. I will need 3 or 4 people to help prep on Saturday evening at 7:30-9. Place TBD. If you have a slicer, please let me know. I know there are several of you who said you had slicers. Sunday morning, I’ll need 3 or 4 people to help put together grinders. 6:30am, place TBD. Still hoping we can use the Elks kitchen. Location details will be coming.
