Vernon / Ellington Area – Boy Scout Troop 20/20 – Returnable Containers (for Glass Bottles) & Returnables Collection – Saturday 10/10 @ 9:00 AM – Noon

THANK YOU, to our very supportive community! We are working to settle into
a regular schedule and are targeting the 2nd Saturday of each month.

WANTED: Amazon Boxes; Small – Medium (up to around 12 inches Wide X
18 Long) we know many have been known to get an Amazon delivery or so,
especially these days perhaps, and we could really use your old Amazon
Boxes & Grocery Store Banana Boxes also work really well (boxes from
anywhere will do!) Thank You

There will be a Returnable Containers (for Glass Bottles) & Returnables
Collection – Saturday October 10th @ 9:00 AM – Noon.

Our current & future Returnables Drives (All types of Returnables accepted)
includes Glass Bottle Containers:
– Cardboard / Paperboard Multipack Containers for Glass Bottles;  Actual 24
Count Flats (or Cases), 12 Pack “Boxes”, and / or 6 Pack Containers.

• Option 1 (Drive-thru drop off) – Drop off returnable cans and bottles at the
  Elks Carriage House Basement Garage (all the way down around the
  back) Saturday between 9:00 AM and noon
• Option 2 (Pick up) – Send an email to t2020ct@gmail.com with your local
  residential address; put the returnable cans, bottles, & Containers (or
  “Amazon Boxes”) outside by 9:00 AM, and they will be picked up Saturday

Service Opportunity From Zach – Saturday 10/3 @ 2:00 PM

The American Legion needs a couple boys to help move one of their tents tomorrow (Saturday 10/3) at 2:00 PM. The address is 114 West St in Vernon.

Annual Dues & 2020 Summer Camp Deposits

Annual Dues: $100 and are due as soon as possible. They can be mailed to our treasurer, Mike Pezzetti (28 Dailey Circle Vernon, CT 06066). Checks should be made out to Troop 20/20.

We are also asking registered adult leaders to consider donating $60 to cover their registration fee with Council, normally covered by the Troop.

We do not want to deny anyone the Scouting experience due to financial reasons, so we will confidentially work with any families in need.

Summer camp deposits have been returned to the Troop. Note: New Class B shirts will be $25. The refund options are:

• Roll-over to next year’s summer camp deposit
• Put it towards membership dues
• Put it towards Class B shirt
• Donate to the Troop 20/20 campership fund
• Receive refund (minus Class B shirt cost)

Reminder: Troop Meeting Tonight (10/1) @ 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Reminder: There will be a troop meeting held outdoors at the Elks tonight (10/1) from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Note: Meeting will begin a half hour early at 6:30 PM and meeting time will be shortened to one hour.

Scouts should bring a chair, bug spray, hand sanitizer, a notebook, and a pen/pencil. Tonight’s agenda will include going over the new Troop 20/20 Covid Campout Supply List to prepare for tent camping at Salmon River on 10/17-10/18. 

There will also be a virtual Zoom option. We are planning for it to be synchronous.

For those attending in person, please read and review with your scout the outdoor in-person meeting protocols we are putting in place for the safety of our scouts and scout leaders.

• Scouts must be screened by a parent/guardian using the medical screening checklist to determine if they must stay home.
• Scout leaders must screen themselves using the medical screening checklist to determine if they must stay home.
• Carpooling is not allowed. The purpose of this is to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
• To minimize mixing and group size, parent/guardian must remain in their vehicle whether they are dropping off and picking up or staying.
• Masks must be worn at all times.
• Social distancing no less than 6 feet must be observed at all times.
• No bathroom facilities will be available.

For those attending virtually, please read and review with your scout the virtual meeting protocols.

• Your Zoom name must be your actual first and last name or will you not be admitted to the meeting.
• You must have your camera on for your attendance to be counted.
• Screenshots or photos of screens on any device when using any video conferencing platform may not be taken.

Help Needed: AJ Kiessling’s Eagle Project – Saturday 9/26 @ 2:00 PM

Please see the flyer for AJ Kiessling’s Eagle project. Volunteers are needed on Saturday 9/26 @ 2:00 PM to help install a bulletin board at Sandy Beach on Crystal Lake in Ellington. It is directly across from the Old Crystal Lake schoolhouse. Please bring a mask and work gloves. Masks must be worn at all times. All participants must complete the medical screening checklist prior to volunteering to determine if they must stay home.
