Greetings fellow scouts and scout leaders! It would be incredibly helpful to the community if everyone who is available could come support Sam Yencho’s eagle scout project. On October 5, 2019 at 9:30 AM (rain date October 6, 2019), Sam Yencho’s eagle project will take place at the Vernon Teen Center (YMCA preschool) at 375 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon at the playground in the back of the building (the one against the back of the building). Please come and support this eagle project, and by extension, the community at large. The more people that come, the better, so bring any friends that you can as well! Moreover, if you have any used playground toys that you do not use anymore, feel free to bring them to the eagle project and we can donate it to the YMCA where preschoolers can make good use of them. Community service hours and refreshments will be provided. Thank you all for your help and support. Please RSVP by texting Sam at 860-490-5713.

EEE Connecticut Rivers Council Update
The Risk Management committee in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Public Health have now deemed the danger of overnight camping to be too high because of the risk of the mosquito-borne illness EEE and its levels found in Connecticut.
With no hard frost in the forecast and with the continued dialogue with State agencies, the decision has been made to only conduct Council and District events from dawn to dusk until the risk is cleared.
Please note this decision was made for the safety of all Scouts and Scouters taking part in these events.
Below are the events in which this ruling effects in the immediate:
Webelos Woods at Workcoeman 9/20-9/22 * Now Saturday only
Ordeal Weekend at Webster 9/20-/9/22 * Canceled
East of the River Camporee 9/27-29th *Canceled
No overnight Camping at our properties
All units and individuals will be refunded for those registered to these events that got canceled or could not make it do to the changes.
Thank you for your understanding and joining us in our commitment to keep our Scouting family safe.
Yours in Scouting,
Connecticut Rivers Council, BSA
