Summer Committee Meeting – Monday 8/26

Summer committee meeting will be on Monday August 26th at Bill Magnotta’s lake house (39 Vinton Road Holland, MA 01521). Adults and kids are welcome, bring bathing suits and a dish to share for dinner. BBQ will be provided. You may arrive any time after 1:00 PM, dinner will be at 6:00 PM and committee meeting will follow at 7:00 PM. Please RSVP to Bill Magnotta for BBQ count at magnottabill@gmail.com.

Summer Camp Update

Parents are invited to a BBQ and closing ceremony starting at 5:30 PM tonight, campfire will start around 7:00. Tickets to dinner can be purchased at the main camp office. The Friday night troop celebration after parents have left is a cornerstone team building activity. Scouts are expected to stay overnight Friday unless scoutmasters have been notified of a critical need to leave before hand. Parents should pick up scouts Saturday morning no later than 9:00 AM.

Scout Camp Medical Forms

Scout camp medical forms – we only have few families, that still need to hand in the forms. I will be leaving on vacation this weekend, so after tomorrow, Pete Bradshaw has graciously agreed to collect the forms.

UPDATE – Help Needed: Gavin’s Eagle Service Project

Gavin’s Eagle Service Project is being postponed due to the forecasted extreme dangerous heat and humidity this weekend. The new plan is to meet at Strong Family Farm on Sunday, July 28th at 9am. Pizza lunch will be provided and the farm is having its annual meeting at 2pm with ice cream sodas and local goodies for anyone that wants to stick around. Volunteers Needed – Elks 100th Anniversary

Volunteers needed for general lodge clean-up & landscaping at the Elks on Saturday July 13th at 9:00 AM and for clean-up after the 100th anniversary party on Sunday July 28th at 9:00 AM. Adults and scouts welcome. Please RSVP to t2020ct@gmail.com if you’re able to help on either day so we can let the Elks know how many people to expect. Time spent volunteering will count towards service hours. We can have all the returnable cans that are left to help with our fundraising.

Help Needed: Gavin’s Eagle Service Project

Gavin Houghtaling has begun working on his Eagle Service Project this summer and needs your help! The project is to make improvements to the Strong Family Farm Stand in Vernon. He will be adding a retractable awning, a new produce stand, a new flower stand, a new sign and drop box, as well as other small projects around the farm. He needs volunteers to come to the Strong Family Farm at 9am on Saturday, July 20^th at 274 West Street in Vernon. He estimates it will be around 4 hours of work, depending on how many volunteers come and pizza lunch will be provided. In the event of rain or not completing the project, July 21^st and July 28^th have been scheduled to complete any remaining tasks. Also, July 28^th is the farm’s annual meeting with their theme being “young people who have been involved in the farm” with short presentations, ice cream sodas and other local goodies beginning at 2pm. Please text Gavin at 860-268-5422 if you plan on helping on July 20^th so he can schedule a duty roster for all of the tasks.

Upcoming Programs @ Strong Family Farm

Strong Family Farm is having a diagnostician come to the Farm at 2:00 Sunday to do a program on insects. It’s free and should be really cool. There is also one on invasive plants on the 14th at 1:00. They thought some Scouts might want to come.

Court Of Honor – Thursday 6/6 @ 6:00 PM

Please join us for our Court of Honor, June 6, 2019. It will begin at 6:00 PM. The troop will be providing meat products, paper goods, and beverages. If your scout brought home a blue slip, we ask that you bring a salad or side dish to share. If your scout brought home a green slip, we ask that you bring a dessert to share. Thank you!
