Good Afternoon,

I have heard from a few families and their request totals less than half of the books available.  Please let me know if you are interested this individual scout specific fundraiser.

This is an individual fundraiser.  We have have the opportunity to deliver phone books for Ellington, Vernon / Rockville and Tolland.  The books are in and we expect to be able to get them next week.  The money raised would go to the individual scout’s accounts which you can use to pay for things like Summer Camp, monthly camp outs and scout gear.

The scouts (and families) are responsible for bagging and delivering their own books.  The books and bags would be picked up and then bagged at home.  The estimate is 25 cents will be earned per delivery so if you would like to pay for a week of Scout Camp ($400) you would need to deliver 1,600 phone books.

Deliveries can be quick or they can be slow, it depends on how quickly you work and / or how many people you have to help you. I

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED – I NEED TO KNOW BY MONDAY: that you are interested and approximately how many books you would like.

PLEASE NOTE: There are not a large number of books this year.  We may not be able to give everyone as many books as they would like. We are working on a truck to deliver the books to my house for pick-up.  More to come. Good Morning,

Martha’s Vineyard Trip (updated phone#s)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

872-For this year’s upcoming Martha’s Vineyard (Friday 9/15 – Sunday 9/17).  We have invited the Webelos from Troop 223 to join us.

The cost is $50 per person and that includes food, ferry, bikes on ferry, parking, etc. Any parents that want to go are welcome.

Important Notes:

  • Scouts that don’t know how to ride a bike are welcome but will need a parent to drive them to the activities around the island. Leaders’ trucks will be available to drive.
  • Depending on the biking ability of the younger scouts that attend, Dan Nevelos will adjust some of the bike rides accordingly. For example, do a shorter ride than the older boys on Saturday afternoon.
  • Bring a brown bag dinner to eat in the car on the way to the ferry or on the ferry on Friday evening.

Important Dates & Times (sample itinerary of daily activities included, subject to change):

  • Thursday 9/7 – Permission slip & $50 per person payment due – Cash is preferred due to short timeframe to purchase ferry tickets, food, etc. Please bring to Troop 2020 meeting at Elks Lodge Carriage House (9 N Park St) anytime between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM
  • Thursday 9/14 – Drop off soft bag of personal gear and bike at Elks Lodge Carriage House (9 N Park St) anytime between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Make sure bikes are in good condition.
  • Friday 9/15 – Leave for Martha’s Vineyard, meet at Elks Lodge Carriage House (9 N Park St) at 3:00 PM in order to make 7:30 PM ferry to Martha’s Vineyard from Woods Hole. Eat dinner in the car on the drive to the ferry or on the ferry.
